We don’t often rent “historical” costume – as evidenced that the newspapers that stuffed these shoes were dated 2005. Pieces that work for such periods do come in from time to time though, and we are happy to sell them off reasonably if we have them. Today a rack of sad knit shawls, rough woolens and broken-down shirts in weaves that mimic hopsacks and homespuns are going out the door – along with a basket of miserable-looking shoes. Poor barely-fashionable folks of the 1700s — it must have been rough.
